There are many different ways in which to analyze the marketplace at this juncture of time, the least of which is the constant distraction we all get from the worst environmental catastrophe in our nation's and possibly the world's history - though I would suggest that Chernobyl was greater.
How do we react? How do we stay focused on our own lives and business? How do we not go crazy at the sight of the endless stream of oil spilling into the sea and our helpless position to do anything about it?
It is very simple really - sell.
Now how will that help you may ask? Well, my experience has always shown me that the best way to sell your customers is to engage with them, in person or on the phone - but always person to person. One of the completely unanticipated side benefits of reaching out and seeing how you can help someone with their business challenges is to help them focus on something they can get an immediate feeling of satisfaction from. You both will feel better - even if their is no immediate purchase. Just the discussion alone will lift our spirits.
So - as we move through the summer solstice and the days begin to shorten - remember - when you don't know what you want or need to do - pick up the phone and talk to your customers - it's amazing how much better we all will feel.
And if you want to see what we are up to -please visit our site, there are many new additions to our case studies as we spread our wings and grow.
Thanks.

Minicom Digital Signage Reveals Remote Device Management (RDM) Technology for Digital Signage Displays at Screen Media Expo 2010
(1970-01-01)
|
|
Remote centralized management and Proof of Performance reduce operational costs and TCO Minicom Digital Signage (MDS), the leader in media infrastructure solutions for theDigital Signage(DS) marketplace, will demonstrate the first Remote Device Management (RDM) solution with Proof of Performance capabilities at Screen Media Expo 2010 (booth D5). The show will be taking place in London (UK), on May 5-6, 2010. The proprietary RDM technology enables reliable remote monitoring and control of display assets of any DS and DooH network, and marks the conceptualization of managed displays. The solution features a unique Media Feedback Mechanism (MFM) for Proof of Performance (POP) so advertisers in DooH networks can validate and audit advertising to ensure both the quantity and quality of the broadcasted ad. With the management capabilities offered by the RDM, operators can reduce system downtime and improve visibility while reducing operational costs and increasing return on investment. The technology enables automatic triggering of support call when necessary, so network operators can intervene quickly and efficiently to reduce operational expenses and thereby total cost of ownership. Ronni Guggenheim, CEO Minicom Digital Signage:?The world of Digital Signage is expanding rapidly with millions of displays from different vendors deployed globally. The interest of media operators is to extract the maximum value from their business-critical media infrastructure, 24/7. This creates a natural trend towards remote central management of media-space display assets, which will be a crucial capability. Our RDM technology provides an essential building block helping the market mature.? Minicom Digital Signage RDM technology provides: · Easier management with consistent monitoring and control of all display assets · Increased reliability with actual media sampling · Increased robustness with objective means of monitoring and control

Best Coffee at ISE was clearly at DailyDOOH Blogger Lounge
(1970-01-01)
|
A big THANK YOU to Adrian and his DailyDOOH team for the best coffee at ISE. It saved my life during the show and kept me going. Not to mention that the sweet smile of the Caffista made sugar superfluous.
Lots of traffic in the blogger lounge. It was an excellent combination having both the DailyDOOH blogger lounge, OVAB and the ISE Digital Signage Showcase in the same complex. It attracted all together very distinct, highly focused DS traffic.
No doubts we will look for ways to repeat and further improve this winning presence next year!

Inspiration is always nearby!
(1970-01-01)
|
Our business is all about impact and creativity. The idea is to keep it is as simple as can be but with impact included. This little posting is just to give a tip. Just keep your eyes open and see what is happening around you. Creativity always is nearby. Have a look at a couple of examples and remember, this is how you should work with your screens also. Look for the magic. It is not so difficult, just trust your imagination.

Do use audio when needed!
(1970-01-01)
|
Most of the time the best thing to do with your content for digital signage is to broadcast it without audio. People can?t hear it very well and for shop employees it really is annoying. They will switch the audio off going mad hearing the same melody every 5 minutes. But sometimes we do recommend to use audio. Just use it for the clips that need extra attention. No audio for mood etc but use audio for commercials, for example. Just to wake people up passing the screen. A good example, I thi ...

Piccadilly circus, talking about impact!
(1970-01-01)
|
Just a short posting this week. Visited London last Wedsnesday, actually rather cold because of the wet snow slamming into my face horizontally. But somehow it always happens when I am in this city, I must see Piccadilly circus. I always want to experience the mother of all out of home (digital) signage; the giant screens. This time I made a little clip of it just to share it with you. Beneath it I found a banking office. Just before security asked me to stop filming with my HTC I ...

What we can learn from traditional signage.
(1970-01-01)
|
We all think and know we are doing a good job in our industry. We all think we know how to fill those screens in the most proper and revenue gaining way. But sometimes we cope with the difficulty of telling the message unless we all know less is more. Therefore I want to give you all a good tip; if you can?t find the right solution for you instore tv add, just think about it as if you produce an add for traditional signage, not for a screen. Because then you have to follow the golden rule le ...

Digital Signage and Zurich clubbing scene? Moods Example
(1970-01-01)
|
The latest noted trend on the Zurich clubbing scene is introduction of new media into the customizable, usually limited club space. If we take Moods , the first address for jazz events in Zurich, as one of the examples for the trend, we can notice that the new well placed displays, just between the bar and adaptable podium and stage are gaining huge attention of the audience. They are running the ads of sponsors and information about the program of the night or announcement for t ...

User generated content in digital signage. No one ever fully convinced me.
(1970-01-01)
|
It is an often heard phenomenon these days to integrate UGC into the content programming of DS screens. I know, technical aspects aren?t an obstacle anymore. And I also know, some target groups are more than ready for it. But it still makes me shiver to open your bandwidth for everyone who wants to upload their own mobile-phone-shot-clips or pictures. What about viruses, what about abusive content and how to control it, and mostimportant what about your advertisers who bought expensive airti ...

FIFA, Cape Town and Digital Signage? All-in-one
(1970-01-01)
|
Yes, we are talking about the draw for football World Cup , that will for the first time take place on the African continent. The ceremony was held yesterday, in Cape Town, and we were once again impressed by the way that FIFA uses contemporary technology at their high-profile events. This time, on the 4.600 square meters stage, they managed to install huge screens, which showed live the draw results , run different content (artist videos, Nelson Mandela?s speech etc)   ...

Sometimes no screens at all is the best choice!
(1970-01-01)
|
Sometimes digital signage in a store, hotel or restaurant is better to avoid. Sometimes it doesn?t boost the atmosphere but just tears it down. So, less is more is always the best, in terms of filling your screens with content but also in your choice whether you should place screens or you shouldn?t. The biggest mistake people make in our business is stepping into digital signage because they are afraid to miss the trend. That is the most foolish decision one can make. Our first question to ...

Digital Signage at Entertainment Venues? Julian Marley Example
(1970-01-01)
|
Yet another example of not even analog, but non-digital stage. At Friday night, here in Switzerland, just before the snow, we had a pleasure of listening to one of the Royalties? Julian Marley. Music was great, atmosphere as well, but the stage was so disappointing. It was completely display-free zone. The only sign/scenography was the big designed drape with the name of the artist, his band, and their latest published CD.Is it the way to go in 21. century?  The ...

The subcontinent wakes up
(1970-01-01)

India went through a hard time the past two years. In two days it's exactly one year ago since the Mumbai attacks which put the whole country in a state of paralyzing shock which is felt since then. Not only hit it hard, but accelerated also the economical crisis which was devastating the local industry and general economy to an extreme. Particularly, the DS industry suffered, being considered an experimental media which has not yet found its place in the marketing mix of the brand owners. ...

Out of home commercial signage: Let the product be king!
(1970-01-01)
|
Content creation for digital signage is all about impact. Actually, content for Out of home advertising as a whole, also not digital, is all about impact. For me the best adds always are when creatives managed to bring the message with the product itself as the main character. I just want to share this with you to emphasis the importance of less is more. See below two examples of advertising where the product is 100% king and the add speaks for itself. The upper add is a wallpaper in Montrea ...
